A mud room concept for East Hamptons, New York, pairing richly layered natural stone with tailored custom storage. The floor is the focal point: 6 × 6-inch Nero Marquina and 6 × 6-inch Calacatta marble form a crisp checkerboard, connected by 3 × 3-inch green marble accents. A dark marble perimeter frames the pattern, while the green details echo the cabinetry above.

Custom cabinetry in a matte olive-green lacquer finish brings depth and a sense of continuity to the room. Paneled doors, overhead cupboards, generous drawers, and open basket cubbies provide a place for everyday essentials. Integrated bench seating with green-and-cream striped upholstery sits beneath vertical paneling, brass-toned coat hooks, and long wood shelves.

An arched black entry door with decorative glazed sidelights and a matching transom creates a strong architectural focal point. Warm brass-toned hardware and wall sconces, recessed ceiling lighting, and planted accents soften the contrast between the dark cabinetry and the luminous marble. The result is a welcoming entry designed to balance daily function with a composed, refined character.
